i am starting a (vaguely weekly-ish) email newsletter to give myself a space to find language for conceptual aspects of creativity and formalize what i piece together from my personal research. i think it will be necessary practice for me in actually finishing something as most of my creative output exists in the margins of the internet (deleted tumblr accounts, forum posts, a flickr account here and there) rather than in any tangible output.

it is something i am doing just to do it; i am not fussed at all about metrics of engagement so please feel no obligation to subscribe out of pity/support. if you are interested in knowing about what i’m sorting through, though, you are welcome to! i would love to have you along. looking to send out the first email around this coming weekend.

the other visual exercise i’ve been working on is playing ffxi with my partner and taking screenshots of our journey. we’re very early on in the game but when the day comes that we’ve done all we want to do and we retire from it, i’d like to make a photo album of it all.

the grdii wasn’t working out for me so i picked up an sd1100, the same kind i’ve been using for years, and carried it around for a bit. it wasn’t super fulfilling but here’s a handful of photos i took with it from the past few months. i don’t reach for it often but it’s still in my bag.

hello to no one —

i used to run a photo blog at this address, but i deleted it a few years ago. nobody took the name, so i’m running a blog here again as a space for myself to focus more intently on art.

i’m writing this on my phone — i desperately need to get both a computer and a camera, but hopefully when i have those things i’ll be able to start to create again, rather than just consume. but for the time being, i plan to use this space to stockpile inspiration to inform what i make next.
